Junior Spring Break Clinic
March 27, 2017 to March 31, 2017
We had a great turnout for our inaugural Junior Spring Break Clinic the week of March 27th through March 31st. There were 13 juniors in the 6-10 age group and 10 juniors in the 11-17 age group. All age groups received the full complement of instruction which included:
- Grip, Stance & Posture
- Full Swing
- Short Game
- Basic Rules of Golf
- And 4-Holes on the Course
Originally, we had planned on getting the students on the course both Thursday and Friday but Mother Nature wasn’t in a cooperative mood all day Thursday. Therefore, we covered the basic “USGA Rules of Golf” and set up an indoor putting course aiding in putting drills they can use when practicing and even set up 1-hole to utilize and reinforce the proper handling of the more common rules encountered on the golf course. Such as:
- Lateral Water Hazards (red stakes or lines)
- Water Hazards (yellow stakes or lines)
- Out-of-Bounds (white stakes, fences, boundaries or lines)
The instructors for the Clinic were:
- Roy Ahnstedt, PGA (Head Golf Professional)
- Tom Deardorff PGA Apprentice (Assistant Golf Professional & Director of Junior Golf)
Based on the feedback received at the conclusion of the week’s festivities, we have decided to hold more Junior Clinic’s this summer (June, July & August) along with a full-scale Junior Golf League. Details & Schedules will be available in the coming weeks.
On behalf of Roy & Tom, Lakeview Golf Club would like to thank the Junior participants, parents and grandparents for their participation & enthusiasm and for choosing Lakeview Golf Club as their destination of choice for Junior Golf.
Please peruse some of the pictures we captured of the week’s events. Unfortunately we were not able to get the 11-17 age group on film, but we’re sure you’ll enjoy the 6-10 age group pictures!
